Former Worthing defender Fin Stevens signed a new-three deal with Brentford's B team last night, with the option of a further year.

The 18-year-old only joined the Bees last summer after impressing for Adam Hinshelwood's side in the 2019/20 season.

He has made a great start to life at the Championship side, after being handed his first-team debut at the age of 17 against Fulham in the Carabao Cup in October 2020.

In January he played the full 90 minutes in their FA Cup third round win over Middlesbrough and fourth round defeat to Premier League side Leicester City.

Last month Stevens made his Championship debut last month coming on in the 87th minute for Mads Roerslev Rasmussen in their 5-0 win over Preston.

He has been an unused substitute for the Bees in six of their last eight Championship games.

Stevens has also been an integral part of Neil MacFarlane’s B team over the course of the season at right back and he has helped the team to impressive wins over the likes of Chelsea Under-23s and Arsenal Under-23s.

His form this season also saw him get his first international call-up for Wales' Under-21 as he played the full 90 minutes in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland Under-21s in March.

MacFarlane has been delighted with Stevens since joining.

Speaking to the club's website, he said: “Fin has had an amazing first season at the Club. We recruited him from Worthing where he came to us after getting some experience from playing non-league football, which I think has been beneficial to him to make the step up.

“He’s had a really good period with the B Team, and he’s shown a lot of personality. He has a really good desire to keep improving as well as a will to win. He’s a terrific kid to work with every single day. He’s had really good training minutes with the First Team in recent months and overall this season has had good game time for the B Team and the First Team. I think he should be very proud of his season.

“We have him now for the next few years and we have a terrific talent. He has earned the respect of both groups and I am really hopeful that in the coming years he will kick on even more, because there is so much more development in him and so much more to come.”

Worthing took to Twitter last night to congratulate Stevens:
