How Albion’s players rated against West Ham:

Robert Sanchez 7/10:

Had very little to do in the first half, but when he was called into action, he made a good save to stop a good long-range effort from Thomas Soucek.

Was nothing he could do about the goal from Said Benrahma.

Pascal Gross 6/10:

Was given the captain’s armband and was moved to right wing back.

However, it was a rather disappointing evening for the playmaker, whose delivery from set-pieces and crosses was not up to his usual standards.

Ben White 8/10:

Another calm and composed performance from the centre back.

He made a terrific block to stop a goal-bound effort from Pablo Fornals in the first half.

Was unlucky with the goal as his header fell to Benrahma.

Adam Webster 8/10:

Had the job of leading the back line in the absence of skipper Lewis Dunk, but stepped up to the task superbly. He made some vital tackles and interceptions and also played some nice long balls forward.

Dan Burn 6/10:

Made a couple of mistakes when trying to cut out passes which allowed Jarrod Bowen to get in down the right on a couple of occasions.

But apart from that did a good job in his more natural position of centre back.

Jakub Moder 6/10:

Was recalled to the side as one of two changes from the defeat at Wolves. But had a rather quiet game.

Yves Bissouma 7/10:

Another impressive display in the middle of the park. He made some good interceptions and also got forward.

He also tried to be positive by going for goal when he found space.

Steven Alzate 6/10:

Looked sharp given the fact he has not played in the Premier League since March but failed to make much of an impact on the game.

Had a couple of efforts from just outside the box, which were both blocked. He was replaced by Adam Lallana in the 67th minute.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh 8/10:

Made back-to-back starts for the first time this season and played in a more advanced role as part of a front three with Trossard and Welbeck.

Looked lively and forced Lukasz Fabianski in a couple of good saves.

Went within inches of opening the scoring after he beat the on-rushing keeper to a great ball over the top from Webster, but his effort curled just past the post.

He was replaced by Percy Tau in the 72nd minute.

Danny Welbeck 7/10:

A good performance from the lone striker, which was capped off with another goal.

He held the ball up well and had to wait for his chance, but when came he finished it well to net his 50th Premier League goal.

Leandro Trossard 6/10:

Another quiet night for the winger. He tried to make things happen in the first half but failed to make an impression on the game.

Substitutes

Adam Lallana 6/10:

Came on when Albion were lacking a creative spark and certainly played a key role in the goal, by picking out Tau in the build-up to Welbeck’s strike.

Percy Tau 6/10:

Looked lively when he came on and made some good runs down the right.

He also played a key role in the goal, finding a pocket of space in the middle of the park, before playing a beautifully weighted pass into Welbeck.

Andi Zeqiri N/A:

Came on late in the game and didn’t really have much time to do anything.
