It was a match and an occasion which will long be remembered.

We asked these Albion fans for their thoughts on the 3-2 win over Manchester City at the Amex.

Then we collected a few thoughts and observations from those fortunate enough to secure tickets.

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance?

Colin Beales: The team’s performance and work ethic was immense and thoroughly deserved the win after dominating the champions. I’m sure the defence will be disappointed with two pretty sloppy goals that made our work harder, but the defence also stepped up offensively playing a massive part in peppering the city defence with attack after attack that culminated in a classic result that will live long in the memory.

Tim Ayling: Yes, City only had ten men, but they’ve beaten plenty of teams with only ten. We flooded forward, had a real go, quick in the tackle. It has to go down as one of the best in the Amex era. Let’s not forget we were missing Dunk, Lamptey, March and Maupay, lost Welbeck, and Lallana was only fit enough for the bench. Potter and the players deserve all the accolades for this.

James Heasman: An absolutely magnificent display by Brighton. I must admit that I was concerned when Welbeck went off, and even more so when he wasn’t replaced by a forward, but credit to Graham Potter who got his tactics spot on. Who needs forwards?!

Alan Brownings: Arguably the best performance of the season in a game that didn’t mean a great deal and against ten men. We seemed to play better having thrown a little caution to the wind and that’s definitely something we can take into next season.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

Colin Beales: This is a hard one as the team was so good throughout. I’d have special callouts for Moder, who seems to be grabbing his chance to play with both hands and not phased by the Premier League step-up, Dan Burn who offensively was brilliant and got a deserved goal. That said Bissouma is my pick. To play at that level against the champions, crunching tackles, turning play and driving forwards. If this was his send off to the fans what a great way to do it, but hope he’s here next season.

Tim Ayling: It’s hard to pick any as they were all magnificent. Bissouma and White were my joint man of the match. White lost out to Foden for the second goal, but he won’t be the last as Foden is special. Will we see either of them next season? Also need to mention Trossard who City couldn’t cope with.

James Heasman: So many good performances, Dan Burn, Yves Bissouma and many others, but I will go with Leandro Trossard who was outstanding from the moment he came on.

Alan Brownings: Jahankabash had the beating of Zinchenko all night! He’s come in for a lot of stick this year but that’s two good performances in a row, just maybe he’s worthy of a run in the side after all?

How was the experience in the stands?

Colin Beales: This was one of those nights as a Brighton fan you will never forget. Firstly there was that build-up to the game and the real sense of a step towards normality with Brighton fans in all areas of the ground. The fans’ excitement was clear and the noise for 8,000 was brilliant and well distributed throughout all four sides. Even when we were down the fans kept going and wow did it have the desired effect on the pitch. A true Amex era classic!

Tim Ayling: It obviously helped that it was such a great game. The noise was amazing, and plenty of room for social distancing. My ten year old has been going for several years, and he said it was one of his best experiences at the Amex. Can’t ask for more than that!

James Heasman: The atmosphere was wonderful and the fans were excellent throughout. The organisation, as always, was first class and all of the staff were a credit to the club. The whole experience was well delivered and was a much needed lift - of course the result helped too!
