Ben White has been told he has made “massive” improvement working with Albion and Graham Potter.

The Seagulls defender has begun training with England as part of the provisional squad aiming for the Euros.

He could make his debut in warm-up matches against Austria on Wednesday or Romania on Sunday, both at the Riverside.

White has starred predominantly on the right of a back three under the guidance of a coaching team which includes Bruno, who would have loved that role had he still been playing.

The former skipper said of White: “I think everyone appreciates what he does.

“I think his qualities of concentration on the rest defence allow us to keep attacking all the time because, with his physicality and his pace, he’s able to defend really high and we regain possession really high and we are able to attack again.

“That for me is one of the keys.

“His one versus one is really good.

“But where I think his improvement has been massive is with his composure on the ball and his starting positions on the pitch.

“I think in possession he’s always in the right position.

“Since he has been working with Graham I’ve seen that improvement massively. He doesn’t rush with his decision-making. He just tries to wait and see how the opposition commit.

“I think that’s for me the main thing where I can see his improvement.”

HOW ALBION AND THEIR RIVALS LOOK FOR BIG SUMMER AHEAD

Albion hugely value the improvement White made in loan spells including that at Championship-winning Leeds in the 2019-20 season.

But Bruno believes the challenge of the Prem has seen him move up a level.

He added: “It’s a different game.

“The Premier League or the Championship or League One is a different game.

“I think he has adapted to that level.”
