David Martot's Albion career has been put on hold because of the French holidays.

The Seagulls wanted to tie up a new loan agreement with the Le Havre midfielder, taking him through to the end of the season.

But, when they attempted to do business yesterday (Monday), they found French football shuts down for the festive period.

Albion boss Dean Wilkins insists the new loan and its terms have not yet been finalised but it appears all parties are keen to strike a deal.

Wilkins said: "David needed some time to consider things.

"He has been in and out of the side and had lots of things to take into consideration.

"I spoke to him on Friday night and I think he feels comfortable coming back to us.

"It's not done yet and there are a couple of things that need to be discussed but it's ongoing."

Wilkins insists Albion will attempt to strengthen their squad in the transfer window.

He said: "We've got players that are in mind but you're always reluctant to name names or even say what position."

Young midfielder Wes Fogden has been recalled from loan at Dorchester to provide cover for today's game with Bournemouth.
