History beckons for Ben White as Euro 2020 finally gets into full swing this weekend.

The delayed tournament is up and running at last after Italy beat Turkey 3-0 in Rome last night.

White could have a part to play as England get their campaign under way against Croatia at Wembley tomorrow (2pm, BBC1).

He would become the first Albion player to appear in a European Championship fixture for England.

A third appearance for his country would also make him Albion’s joint most capped England international.

It would be the first outing by an Albion player for the Three Lions at a major tournament since Steve Foster won the last of his three caps by helping his country to a 1-0 win over Kuwait at the 1982 World Cup finals.

Seagulls fans would love to see White given the chance to help England chase their first ever opening-game win at a Euro finals.

Albion have five players at the tournament and Leandro Trossard could set the ball rolling for them tonight.

The livewire forward has been struggling with a muscular problem of late.

He is unlikely to start as Belgium take on Russia in St Petersburg (8pm, ITV1).

But there is every chance he could have a role as a substitute.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh captained Iran yesterday and opened the scoring in confident style from the penalty spot as they beat Cambodia 10-0 in a World Cup qualifier
