Jakub Moder produced a moment of class for Poland at Euro 2020 tonight to help his side secure a point.

The Albion midfielder played a big role in the goal which secured a 1-1 draw against Spain at La Cartuja in Seville.

He was later booked for conceding a penalty, awarded by VAR, which was missed.

Moder was predominantly involved in defensive duties as he took his place in a midfield line which Spain looked to pass and move their way through.

He showed confidence when he got on the ball early on and spread play to the right with a crossfield pass.

But a pass he left a little short deep in his own half almost let Spain in.

Alvaro Morata’s predatory finish gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Unai Simon, the goalkeeper chosen ahead of Albion’s Robert Sanchez, kept his side in front with a reflex save.

The pattern of the first half was summed up by the fact Moder only touched the ball 20 times – compared to as many as 53 for opposite midfielder Koke.

Moder was perhaps fortunate not to see yellow for a foul on Koke early in the second half.

But he was at the origin of Robert Lewandowski’s headed leveller as he span away from two opponents in a tight area and threaded a pass forward to start the move.

Spain might have restored their lead very quickly.

Moder was adjudged on review to have fouled Gerard Moreno but the same player hit the post from the spot and Morata sent the rebound wide.

The Seagulls man played an anchor role in midfield until his departure n the 85th minute.
