Former Brighton forward Izzy Brown has joined Championship side Preston North End on a one-year deal following his release from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old joined Albion on a season-long loan in July 2017 for their debut campaign in the Premier League.

He made 14 appearances for the Seagulls during his loan spell before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in their FA Cup win over Crystal Palace at the Amex in January 2018, which ended his loan early.

Since recovering from his knee ligament injury, Brown has had loan spells at Leeds, Luton and Sheffield Wednesday.

Brown had been at Chelsea since 2013 but only made one first-team appearance, which came against his former side West Bromwich Albion in May 2015.

But Brown will now join Preston on July 1 following the expiry of his contract at Chelsea and he is delighted to have sealed the move.

He told the club's official website: “I’m over the moon to finally get this done. It’s been in the works for a couple of weeks now, but I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“Now I’m getting to that age where I want to develop myself as a player and hopefully be a legend at a club, and I really feel like Preston’s a place where I could do that.”

It will be the ninth club that Brown has played for.
