Albion’s Under-23s were handed a tough draw in the group stages of the Papa John’s Trophy yesterday afternoon.
Andrew Crofts’ side, who are one of 16 under-aged side to compete in the competition, have been drawn in Group D alongside three League Two sides.
They will face Forest Green Rovers, Northampton Town and Walsall.
The Seagulls’ young guns have previously done well in the competition as they topped their group in the 2019-20 season, when it was known as the EFL Trophy.
In that run to the knockout stages they beat League One sides AFC Wimbledon and Southend United, before drawing with League Two side Leyton Orient.
They were then knocked out by League Two side, Newport County on penalties at the Amex.
