Albion are prepared to hold their nerve in the summer transfer market.

The Seagulls are continuing to look at forwards after seeing target Nico Gonzalez sign for Fiorentina.

They are also aware of interest from several clubs in star defender Ben White, led by Arsenal.

A well-placed source yesterday denied a suggestion Arsenal had moved close to agreeing a £50 million deal for White, who is currently at Euro 2020.

The Gunners are reported to have seen an initial bid knocked back and are thought to lead the current running to sign White.

At this relatively early stage, it would certainly appear a possibility he will start next season walking out somewhere other than at Turf Moor with the Seagulls.

But Albion would be happy to see what the transfer window brings – and have no great desire or need to sell any of their outstanding players.

White was watched by a number of clubs late last season and Albion believe that interest is still out there.

The Seagulls have met one of their first goals of the summer by securing Danny Welbeck on a new deal.

They have also taken the first step towards a desired trimming of the squad by releasing Davy Propper to return to PSV.

In terms of further business, The Argus have been told the club are “in no rush to do anything”.

Gonzalez has been described as “one of a number of players” in whom Albion are or were interested.
