Spain penalty hero Unai Simon has revealed the encouragement he received from Robert Sanchez before helping his side into the semis.

Simon saved two spot kicks as his side went through against Switzerland in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.

He revealed back-up keepers Sanchez and David De Gea spoke to him ahead of the shoot out.

The Argus:

Simon said: “From experience I know it is worse being in the stands than on the pitch.

“Both David and Robert wished me a lot of luck and gave me a lot of encouragement.

“We knew what we had to do with the penalties.

“They told me to be calm. What happens, happens.
