Sussex spinner Jack Carson could be oin line to face India.

He has been named in a 14-man County Select XI squad that will take on the World Test Championship finalists at Emirates Riverside in a three-day fixture.

The match, starting on Tuesday, is part of India’s warm-up schedule ahead of the LV= Insurance Test Series.

In his 14 first-class matches to date, 20-year-old Carson has taken 49 wickets at an average of 25.67.

His 34 in this summer’s Championship make him Sussex’s leading wicket-taker and the leading England-qualified spinner in the competition.

Ahead of the fixture next week, the county players selected will bridge into a team environment and undergo Covid testing before being cleared to play in the match.
