Brighton prospect Jensen Weir scored a stunner on his debut for Cambridge in one of their two 60-minute friendlies against Cardiff this afternoon.

The 19-year-old started the first match and scored his first goal for the U’s in some style.

He received the ball 25-yards out and his strike flew into the bottom corner to double their lead over the Championship side.

Meanwhile, his Albion teammate Carl Rushworth played 45 minutes for Walsall in their 1-0 defeat to Premier League side Crystal Palace.

The keeper made some good saves to deny Wilfred Zaha and Jordan Ayew.

However, four minutes before half time Rushworth was beaten as Zaha slotted his effort into the far corner.
