Brighton head coach Graham Potter was pleased with his sides performance in their goalless draw against Rangers at Ibrox, considering the number of first-team players that they were missing.

The Seagulls were without nine players for the match in Robert Sanchez, Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Ben White, Joel Veltman, Leandro Trossard,Jakub Moder and Danny Welbeck.

However, they managed to hold onto a point despite the Scottish Champions having one effort cleared off the line in the first half, plus then hitting the crossbar and having a goal disallowed in the second half.

But given that Steven Gerrard's side had got more minutes under their belts in pre-season Potter was happy with his side's overall display.

Albion's head coach said: "Their season starts next week and I though first half we probably looked more in the game than in the second half.

"In the second half there was a lot of young players out there and for players like Solly (March) and Florin (Andone) it was their first 45 in a while.

"So, when you look it on the whole it was a good fitness exercise when you consider the players we did not have available, it was a fine performance but one that we obviously want to improve because that is where we should be at this stage of the season.

"There is still lots to do but the boys have shown a great attitude, worked hard over the two weeks we have been back.

"We have played lots of in-house games and now it is about trying to step that up."
