Brighton head coach Graham Potter has insisted there is plenty more to come from summer signings Enock Mwepu and Kjell Scherpen after they made their debuts on Saturday.

The pair started their pre-season friendly against Rangers and played 45 minutes.

Mwepu was one of the standout players for Albion with his movement and work on the ball.

Scherpen was forced into making a few comfortable saves, but almost got caught out with the ball at his feet.

The Dutch giant was robbed of possession by Cedric Itten in his own box, who then saw his effort cleared off the line.

One of his big strengths will be his height and that was that evident against Rangers, as he looked very comfortable coming out to claim crosses and commanding his area.

But Potter admits the pair will only get better with them still adjusting to Albion’s style of play and a new country.

He told The Argus: “It is a first 45 minutes for them, so it is nice for them to get that out of the way and then we can build from there.

“Enock will get better the more he understands the team and what we are asking him, but I thought he did well.

“The same for Kjell it is a case of him settling in, adapting to us and us adapting to him.

“But it was nice for them to get 45 minutes and start their Albion careers.”

The pair could get their first chance to play in front of some Albion fans on Saturday when they face Luton at Kenilworth Road.
