Adam Webster is not surprised to see his Brighton teammate Ben White being linked with top Premier League sides.

He is reportedly closing in on a move to Arsenal with his medical due to take place tomorrow before he then completes a £50 million move.

The Gunners were not the only side who were interested in White.

In April, The Argus understood he was on a list of defenders that Manchester United were keeping a close eye on, along with Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

However, the Red Devils have opted to pursue a move to bring Varane to Old Trafford.

White made the joint-most appearances for the Seagulls last season (36) along with midfielder Yves Bissouma.

He was also part of an Albion defence along with Webster which was the joint-best in the bottom half of the league last season with Aston Villa, conceding just 46 goals.

But Webster who played alongside White as part of a back three in 25 of his 36 appearances, is not surprised that he attracting interest from top Prem sides.

Speaking in a interview with Talksport, he said: “He’s got so much ability and so much potential.

“He’s still only 23, so he’s still got a lot of years ahead of him.

“To do what he’s done, every year and kick on and progress, from League One to the Championship and then last year in the Premier League and playing for England.

“He takes it all in his stride and nothing fazes him. It doesn’t surprise me.”
