Brighton continue preparations for their upcoming 2021/22 Premier League campaign by facing Championship side Luton at Kenilworth Road this afternoon (3pm).

Graham Potter’s men kicked off their pre-season campaign last weekend with a goalless draw at Ibrox.

But what can Albion fans expect to see from them at Kenilworth Road?

Well firstly the match will now be a regular 90 minute match than the 120 minute match that had originally been planned.

Well with Ben White having joined fellow Prem side Arsenal plus skipper Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster both doubts to feature, it will be interesting to see who Potter names at centre back.

In the draw against Rangers he started with Shane Duffy and Dan Burn at the heart of the defence, before in the second half bringing on Leo Ostigard and Ansef Tsoungui to replace them.

Ostigard was the standout performer of the four at Ibrox, especially given the fact he had the tough role of marshalling a back four which contained three U23s in Ayo Tanimowo, Ansef Tsoungui and James Furlong.

One player Albion fans did not get to see in action against Rangers was Danny Welbeck.

The 30-year-old striker was due to start as part of a second half XI up top with Florin Andone.

However, prior to coming on Welbeck had a ‘slight feeling’ and the Seagulls decided not to risk him.

Potter was hopeful that the injury would be nothing too serious.

Another of the standout performers in the match against the Scottish Champions was Enock Mwepu.

It was the first time that Seagulls supporters have got a glimpse at the Zambian international and they would have been encouraged by what they saw.

The 23-year-old looked lively and displayed a good turn of pace as well as good strength to hold other a couple of Rangers players.

His movement was also really encouraging as he was constantly popping up all over the pitch and was willing to receive the ball.

What many Albion fans would love to see tomorrow is Mwepu starting in midfield alongside Yves Bissouma.

Given their energy, stamina and willingness to get on the ball it has all the making of an exciting partnership.

Florin Andone and Solly March could also get another run out as they look to build up their fitness ahead of the new season.

March and Andone both saw their 2020/21 campaigns cut short by injury. But the pair were both given 45 minutes at Ibrox.

However, Andone struggled to make an impression on the game due to the lack of service he had.

Luton will be looking to round off their pre-season with a flourish.

The Hatters have already played four friendlies and are unbeaten, winning three and drawing one.

Former Albion caretaker boss and player Nathan Jones has strengthened his squad over the summer making nine signings, which have included a blend of youth and experience.

He has invested in players that are experienced at Championship level in Henry Lansbury and Cameron Jerome

But one player the Seagulls will not come up is former winger Kazenga Lua Lua who has joined Turkish top flight side Genclerbirligi.

Jones has also added some youth in Carlos Mendes Gomes, Corey Parker and Admiral Muskwe, who impressed at Wycombe last season.

Luton’s squad know it is their final chance to impress before their opening game of the season. But Jones has been pleased with his side.

He said: “We know we’re not the finished article yet, we’ve got a lot of players that we’ve had to integrate, but they’re taking it on board, they’re working hard, and we’ve got a great environment in terms of the quality that we’re showing.

“It’s all about gathering momentum, it’s all about getting sharp, it’s all about getting that fitness and staying injury free. But we’re only going to get better and that’s the pleasing thing.”
