Danny Welbeck has been ruled out of Albion's first three games of the season.

Head coach Graham Potter has confirmed he does not expect to see the striker until after the first international break.

Welbeck has missed both pre-season fixtures so far with a hamstring issue.

He spoke recently about his excitement at being fit for the new season.

But it now appears the match at Brentford in September will be the first we will see of him – at the earliest.

Welbeck limped out of Albion’s final home game last season as they beat Manchester City.

Potter told Sky Sports today: "It's a little recurrence of what he picked up at the end of last season.

"It's frustrating for him and for us but we anticipate him coming back the other side of the international break."
