Graham Potter likes Albion's tactical options for the new season.

The Seagulls have played with a back four at times in friendlies as they start life without Ben White.

Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster made a belated entry into pre-season against Getafe on Saturday as part of a back three with Joel Veltman.

But the Seagulls have choices to make as they prepare for their Premier League campaign, which kicks off on Saturday (3pm) at Turf Moor against Burnley.

Head coach Potter said: “I think last year because we had Ben, Lewis and Adam it made sense for the majority of the time to be a back three because of the strength of those players.

“We have lost Ben but we have got other options as well.

“Because of Lewis and Adam’s (lack of) game time, it was about how could we get the most time for them (versus Getafe).

“So probably start with a three to allow that to happen.

“I think we got 80 minutes in the end from those two so that was really positive.

“But as always you just try and work out the best way to use the squad that we have, the players we have, to be the most effective in the games.”

Albion will be missing Dan Burn and Tariq Lamptey as defensive options for the start of the season while Leo Ostigard has left on loan.

But Potter said: “The boys are in a good place. The mood is good, the attitude is good.

“We can play better, I think, and that is what we will have to do.”
