Albion target Marc Cucurella has been withdrawn from his side’s two remaining August fixtures.

Getafe boss Michel reported this morning the Olympic medallist has “a few niggles” and is being given a holiday.

However sources who follow the club closely believe Cucurella is very keen to move on and take his chance in the Premier League.

He trained briefly yesterday but misses the home game versus Sevilla on Monday as well as a trip to the Camp Nou to face his old club Barcelona ahead of the international break.

Without mentioning Albion specifically, Michel repeated the message of his club president Angel Torres that any suitors should pay the release clause if they want to sign a player.

It is unclear how that would be structured but negotiations with Torres are generally understood to be challenging.

Michel added his understanding was that Getafe had no need to cash in on star players.

He said: “The president has been strong and he doesn’t need to sell because he is convinced we can have a good year and he wants to do that.

“This doesn’t worry us too much.

“We don’t have big worries in terms of money.

“From what I see, we don’t need to sell to clean up our finances.
