Brighton head coach Graham Potter has given an update on the shoulder injury which saw Neal Maupay withdrawn at half time.

The striker took a heavy fall after a challenge from Watford midfielder Peter Etebo a couple of minutes after he had given Albion a two-goal lead.

Maupay was clutching his right shoulder in some pain and midfielder Adam Lallana was shouting for the medical staff to get onto the pitch.

The 25-year-old did manage to get to his feet after some treatment from Albion’s medical staff.

However, he did not emerge for the second half with Aaron Connolly replacing him.

But Potter has admitted it is too early to reveal the extent of the injury to his shoulder.

He said: “It’s too early to say, we are hopeful that it is not too bad.

“It is really sore at the moment and we need to take a bit of time 24-48 hours to see how bad it is.

“But we are hopeful that it is days at the moment as opposed to weeks.”
