But after the game manager Valerien Ismael was waiting to find out the extent of his injury, but expects Clarke not to feature until after the international break.
He said: “The only negative is the injury to Matty Clarke.
“I don’t know what’s going on, we need to assess him [on Sunday]. We’ll see how bad the injury is.
“Yes, it’s really sad, but I hope it’s not too bad.
"The good thing is that we have the international break next week, so hopefully we get him back after the international break.
"This is my expectation, this is my hope.”
If Clarke does not feature till after the international break that he will miss their Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal on Wednesday and their trip to Peterborough on Saturday night (8pm).
It is the not first time that injury has ruled the centre-back out he also missed their opening game of the season at Bournemouth due to a hip injury.
