ALBION's anticipated sale of Percy Tau has moved closer after he was picked for international duty.

The South African forward was called up to the national team by the manager Hugo Broos ahead of the team's World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana.

Tau has been linked with a move to the Egyptian side Al Ahly, and a transfer is expected to be completed before the end of the transfer window.

If there were any doubts over the transfer, Broos has seemingly put them to bed when he was asked about Tau's role for the Bafana Bafana.

He said: "Percy Tau is an important player. He's an important player for Bafana Bafana. Again if Percy will not play in the next months, I'll have a problem.

"But I heard some good news. I think he's not staying at Brighton. He will go to an Egyptian team with the South African coach Pitso Mosimane at Al Ahly.

"I think in the next days, it will be done, and then he'll have a chance to play regularly, so there'll be no problem for Percy Tau in the future."

If the 27-year-old's move is completed in the coming days, he will link up with former coach Pitso Mosimane, who previously managed Tau during his stint in charge of the national team.

Tau has not featured in either of Albion's victories this season. He signed for the Seagulls in 2018, but only made three appearances for the club after three loan spells in Belgium.

The forward made six appearances and managed to get one assist, which was for Danny Welbeck in a 1-1 draw against West Ham last season.
