How Albion players rated in the 1-0 win at Brentford.

ROBERT SANCHEZ 7/10

A giant figure of calm authority in his bright yellow. Did not go above and beyond what would be expected of him with his one notable save and various catches but always looked confident with ball in hand or at feet.

ADAM WEBSTER 6/10

Was being given a good test by Toney when his afternoon ended abruptly as he swung into a left-footed clearance. The hope will be his absence is not lengthy.

SHANE DUFFY 8/10

The Argus:

Mbeumo had chances in the first half but this was an increasingly solid defensive performance against hosts who gradually ran out of imagination. Also displayed a nice range of passing.

LEWIS DUNK 7/10

A steady old school defensive display as Albion, troubled at times in the first half, looked increasingly like completing that first away clean sheet.

JOEL VELTMAN 7/10

An afternoon where his adaptability and experience came to the fore. Started as right wing-back, then went to right of a three and ended as right-back. Was probably at his best in the second of those roles.

YVES BISSOUMA 9/10

Again strode around midfield at a level above others. Covers so much ground, sees situations develop a second before opponents, is always neat, clever and responsible in his use of the ball rather than just helping it on and was driving forwards at the end.

ADAM LALLANA 6/10

An unusually hit and miss day for the midfielder in term of passing but good to see him enjoy a busy 90 minutes.

MARC CUCURELLA 7/10

The Argus:

Can be pleased with his debut – with more come. Was thrown into quite an English type of match and seemed at home with the tempo but one suspects he can offer more in attack.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 8/10

Produced the most inspirational moment of each half – with his work to release Welbeck in the first and his goal in the second. That confidence, precision and quality at the end was above anything else we saw over 90 minutes and made the difference.

DANNY WELBECK 6/10

Back in the XI perhaps sooner than expected and looked lively in build-up play from the start. But might have pushed a shot wider of the keeper after being released by Trossard.

NEAL MAUPAY 6/10

A fairly quiet return to his old club. Tried to get involved in team play with and without the ball and flashed an optimistic second-half shot wide of the near post.

SUBS

JAKUB MODER 7/10

Initially on at right wing-back, then pushed into midfield. Played a strong part in the move which brought the goal.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER N/A

Is always looking to be positive and his introduction at the right time was key to a strong finish to the game. Played a big part in the goal.

SOLLY MARCH N/A

Looked good in a brief outing down the left.
