Hope Powell told Albion’s women to look at the scoreboard after they set a club record.

The Seagulls beat Birmingham City 5-0 at St Andrew’s for their biggest ever win in FA WSL.

Kayleigh Green’s majestic chip after a fine team move rounded off the scoring as five different players hit the net.

Albion have won two out of two, scoring seven goals and conceding none.

They now break for international action.

Albion boss Powell: “We have been on the end of a 5-0 drubbing and, trust me, it’s not very nice.

“At the end, I said to the girls, ‘Just look at that scoreboard’.

“That’s a first for us and that was nice – and the fact we didn’t concede. We try to maintain standards.”

Victoria Williams scored early from a corner and Inessa Kaagman’s penalty in first-half stoppage time gave Albion breathing space.

England striker Danielle Carter drilled in her first for the club and defender Emma Koivisto added a fine header before Green rounded it off in style having being picked out by Emily Simpkins.

STADIUM IS THE DREAM FOR BRIGHTON BOSS HOPE POWELL

Powell was delighted with all the goals but said: “It’s great to see Danielle Carter on the scoresheet as one of her ambitions coming to the club was about scoring goals.”

Albion host unbeaten Aston Villa at Crawley two weeks from today (2pm).
