Albion want to help Aaron Connolly reach his full potential.

The Irish international striker is up and running for this season after his Carabao Cup double versus Swansea.

His two goals in five minutes matched his tally for all of last season.

Connolly was left out of the 20 on the opening day at Burnley and his only league action came so far this term came as sub for the injured Neal Maupay against Watford.

He made his case for more Prem involvement with his performance against the Swans.

Albion boss Graham Potter said: “Aaron’s a good kid. Hels a really nice kid.

“There’s not a problem with him at all.

“He’s just sometimes young and wants to play and can be frustrated and is a human being.

“That’s the truth – but everyone loves him here.

“We want to help him reach his full capacity.

“He’s only young so he is going to make mistakes and it’s not going to be a straight road for him but the quality is there.”

Connolly operated to the left of centre looking to come in on his right foot.

Potter said: “I think that side helps him in terms of his finishing but he contributed to the team defensively, he worked for the team, his reactions were really good so he gets his reward.

“I’m delighted for him.”
