How Albion players rated in the 2-0 win against Swansea last night.

JASON STEELE 7/10

Calm and composed as the most senior figure in the team and Albion’s captain. Made a brilliant save down to his right in the first ten minutes to deny Liam Cullen. Another good save in the second half to deny Ricketts. Perhaps got lucky with a casual pass to Alzate which almost gifted Swansea a goal.

TARIQ LAMPTEY 7/10

Albion fans did not get to see any of his electric runs tonight, but he kept the ball well and linked up excellently with Taylor Richards in the first half. He received rapturous applause when he came onto the pitch and when driving forward. An encouraging 45 minutes as he regains his fitness.

ED TURNS 8/10

The 18-year-old from Sussex has been with the club since 2014 and was perhaps a surprise start in Albion’s XI. He was not overly tested but looked calm and composed both on and off the ball against a hardworking Swansea side.

HAYDON ROBERTS 7/10

Another Sussex talent who came in and did a good job in Albion’s defence. Both young centre backs calm on and off the ball, something that is a necessity in a Potter system.

DAN BURN 7/10

Played on his favoured left side and was as consistent as always. He likes to add that extra dimension in attack and could have scored with an effort in the second half when encouraged to shoot by the Seagulls fans.

TAYLOR RICHARDS 7/10

Direct and likes to run at players. Did exactly that tonight. He linked up well with Lamptey in the first half and came close to scoring in the second half with a curling effort.

MARC LEONARD 7/10

Started in the middle and then moved to the right when Gross came on. He really grew into the game as it went on and looked unphased at right back in the second half.

STEVEN ALZATE 6/10

Looked to pick the ball up in midfield and instantly be on the turn to keep it moving. One delightful turn to beat two players and feed into Moder. Certainly did not have a bad game, but a couple of errors that could have led to a goal.

JAKUB MODER 7/10

He was absolutely everywhere tonight and helped drive the Albion forward. Could have scored after getting on the end of a deep ball, but his volley was saved. He did have one lucky moment where he gave the ball away outside the box, but Steele saved his blushes.

ALEXIS MACALLISTER 7/10

A good overall performance from the Argentinian, who grew into the first half after a quiet opening 30 minutes. A couple of under hit passes but found his rhythm and slotted in Connolly twice in five minutes to seal the victory for the Albion. Was replaced late on after sustaining a knock in the second half.

AARON CONNOLLY 8/10

Played on his favoured left-hand side and caused Swansea problems all night. He got the ball stuck under his feet a bit in the opening moments. However, a bit like MacAllister he seemed to find his rhythm and won Brighton the match with two textbook Connolly finishes. Worked hard and chased down the Swansea defence.

PASCAL GROSS 6/10

Slotted into central midfield when he came on, with Leonard going out on the right. Comfortable on the ball and helped Albion see the game out. Hit the crossbar with a deflected freekick in the closing stages.

JEREMY SARMIENTO 7/10

Stylistically similar to Taylor Richards in the way he loves to carry the ball. Came on for his debut and did not look flustered with his driving runs. Won Albion a freekick late on which was almost converted.

JURGEN LOCADIA 6/10

His first Albion appearance in almost two years. He played on the left rather than upfront and kept the ball well in the closing 15 minutes. Hard to say how much he will be in Potter’s plans this season but good to see him back playing.
