Jeremy Sarmiento has been called into the Ecuador squad – as expectation mounts that he could be set for a Premier League debut today.

The attacking midfielder or wide player who signed this summer from Benfica is in Gustavo Alfaro’s squad for three World Cup qualifiers in he forthcoming international window.

He joins Moises Caicedo, the Albion midfielder on loan to Beerschot, in the group.

Ecuador play Bolivia at home and then travel to Venezuela and Colombia.

 

 

Sarmiento, born in Spain of Ecuadorian parents, has excited with Albion under-23s but did not take part in their 3-0 defeat at Arsenal last night.

His father Holger last night told radio reporters in Ecuador he expects him to make his senior Premier League debut when the Gunners visit the Amex later today.

Holger Sarmiento’s comments suggested he believed his son would START the game.
