Albion fans seemed to enjoy their football on Saturday, despite the bad weather and lack of goals.

We asked four long-time supporters for their observations and emotions after an evening at the Amex.

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance versus Arsenal?

Tim Ayling: It was probably the best I’ve seen us play this season, though I missed Watford. I hate to say it, but it was how we played last season - great football, but missed a few chances. When we put it all together we’ll hand out a spanking to someone.

Alan Brownings: A good overall performance, again. Arsenal started better but we soon got into it, had the better chances and on another day might have snuck it. At the end of the day a point was probably fair.

Colin Beales: A decent performance against a good Arsenal team. I think we edged the game slightly but didn’t have quite enough to get all three points.

James Heasman: I thought Brighton were outstanding and for me it was one of our best performances in the Premier League. All the players worked hard and our football was very slick, with a great team shape. One of the best elements of the performance was the way we pressed Arsenal, and often they immediately surrendered possession. A fantastic display.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

Tim Ayling: Cucurella was outstanding again, and Trossard was very lively. He looks so much better with a free role. Duffy was also bang in form, which was great to see.

Alan Brownings: The sponsors went with Cucurella, which is fair enough, but I thought Duffy, who had another outstanding performance. It’s good to have the big man back.

Colin Beales: I though Trossard was really good again, but would give man of the match to Cucurella, who was a constant threat on the left-hand side. The prospect of him and Lamptey playing will cause teams real issues down the wings.

James Heasman: Cucurella one again was excellent, particularly in the first half, but, after a challenging first ten minutes, I thought Leandro Trossard was brilliant, with all our best play involving him.

What was your over-riding emotion afterwards - pleased with the performance or disappointed not to have won?

Tim Ayling: I think I was more happy with the performance actually, while last season I wouldn’t have been. That’s probably because we have more points this season. Last season we would have lost it 1-0 too.

Alan Brownings: Something’s changing. I’m really starting to enjoy my football again. At times we’re looking to play a forward ball and to push teams back and it’s really exciting. We still revert to sideways, backwards at times, but it’s far more entertaining.

Colin Beales: I was pleased with our point. We just didn’t do enough to get all the spoils but games like this show how far we’ve progressed as a team.

James Heasman: Before the game I would have taken a point, particularly as Arsenal seemed to be hitting form, but they were made to look ordinary throughout, and it wasn’t them playing poorly, it was Brighton playing well. At the end it did feel like two points dropped though. Once again the inability to recruit ‘Premier League ready’ support for Maupay showed, as we lacked presence in the box.
