Albion will pick their moment to bring back Tariq Lamptey.

But the right wing-back cannot wait to make his Premier League return.

Head coach Graham Potter is assessing his options ahead of the game at Norwich City tomorrow.

From a defensive perspective, those choices could be enhanced by Adam Webster, who is back in training after a hamstring problem.

Not that Albion have exactly been leaking goals without him, although they had a couple of escapes in the win over Leicester.

Lamptey has not played in the Prem for ten months now but looked lively in 45 Carabao Cup minutes against Swansea.

Three-and-a-half weeks have passed since then, so plenty of time to get further up to speed in training.

It remains to be seen whether Carrow Road is the right place and Norwich the opponents against whom he returns as a more natural wing-back option than Joel Veltman, who has played of late.

Potter said of Lamptey: “He has been training really well.

“As you can imagine, he’s chomping to get back on the pitch and play.

“We’ve just got to find the right moment for him.

“The team has been doing well and, as a sub, it’s not so easy to come on and make that impact.

“Obviously we’re conscious he’s had a long lay off so we have to be careful.

“But he has been training and he is ready to help us.

“It’s just about finding the right moment for him.”

Norwich have switched to a back five in recent matches and the set-up helped them to a first clean sheet and point of the campaign at Burnley last time out.

Dimitris Giannoulis was used as left wing-back at Turf Moor with Max Aarons filling the role on the right.

Brandon Williams, on loan from Manchester United, was at left wing-back during the recent 2-0 defeat at Everton.

What is clear is that, while Albion’s forward options are back under the spotlight after Danny Welbeck was injured, they potentially have some tough choices to make elsewhere.

The message yesterday afternoon was that Webster was back in training and had “a chance of being available for selection this weekend”.

So nothing definite a little more than 48 hours from kick-off but it sounds promising.

A return, were it to come in Norfolk, would seemingly be at the expense of either Shane Duffy or Dan Burn, both of whom have done well of late.

GRAHAM POTTER REACTS TO DANNY WELBECK SETBACK

Potter gave a positive report from the camp when he spoke after training yesterday.

He said: “Some of the guys went away.

“Everyone has come back okay, which is the main thing, and we’ve had some good time to recover and train.

“They had a session today, fantastic attitude, really good spirit and good quality so we’re looking forward to the game.

“We’re excited for the game. Bring it on!”
