Albion are facing a defensive decision as they prepare to welcome Adam Webster back to action.

The centre-back missed the 0-0 draw at Norwich on Saturday as the Seagulls kept a fourth clean sheet of the season and third in five games.

He has been out for four-and-a-half matches with a hamstring injury suffered at Brentford.

Graham Potter confirmed the centre-back would be training early this week as the Seagulls build towards the visit of Manchester City to the Amex.

Potter said of the Norwich game: “This one was a bit too close but he will be training with us Monday, Tuesday so that’s good news.”

Albion had hoped Webster could be part of their options at Carrow Road.

But Shane Duffy and Dan Burn have staked strong claims to keep places when he returns.

Joel Veltman appears likely to continue wide in the starting XI rather than as a centre-back choice with Potter wary of asking too much too soon of Tariq Lamptey.

But Lamptey would still be a potential option off the bench, The Seagulls boss has admired the steely side his players have shown in defence.

He said: “When you keep a clean sheet, you need some good performances from your defenders.”

City play Club Brugge in the Champions League tonight without Ferran Torres (broken foot).

Ilkay Gundogan and Oleksandr Zinchenko are back in contention.
