ALBION fans turned out in their thousands to watch their team face the current reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Seagulls were well beaten by Pep Guardiola's side after a first-half masterclass at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens were untouchable for 45 minutes with Ilkay Gundogan opening the scoring and Phil Foden netting twice.

However, a spirited second-half performance meant that the fans could leave with their heads held high.

Brighton were much better after the interval and arguably deserved more than the consolation given to them from the penalty spot by Alexis Mac Allister.

While Riyad Mahrez late strike meant the Sky Blues left the South Coast with a 4-1 win.

The defeat saw Albion drop one place in the table as other results went against them.

Albion now sit in fifth place, two points behind West Ham United and on equal points with Tottenham Hotspur with 15.

Fans will now be turning their attention to the Carabao Cup match against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night, which will kick-off at 7.45pm.
