ALBION fans have taken to social media to request that the club resign a former player.

The man that the fans want is Norwich City's Mathias Normann, the midfielder was part of the club's youth academy before leaving without making a single first-team appearance.

Normann left Albion in 2019 and would go on to spend two successful seasons at FC Rostov in Russia. He made 56 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and assisting eight more.

The 25-year-old would then go on to join recently promoted Norwich City in the summer transfer window on loan with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.

The midfielder has been one of the Canaries better players in what has been a tough start to the season for the Norfolk based club. Normann has assisted one goal in his five appearances so far, but has made some important defensive contributions.

The Norweigan, in his five appearances in the Premier League, has averaged one tackle, one interception and two clearances per ninety minutes.

He has also managed a decent passing return of 0.8 key passes per ninety and a pass accuracy of 73 per cent, which is not bad when considering Norwich's current position in the table.

Normann has managed to do enough since returning to England to win over some Albion fans, who now want him to come back to the club.

One fan said: "Bring him home. Our academy boy from 2017. We sold him for some reason, I would not mind taking the L and buying him back, he looks unreal now.

Another Albion fan said: "I think he is class, the only shining light in that Norwich team."

The player, who has made nine appearances for his national side scoring one goal, could join Norwich permanently for £11 million at the end of the season, which should give Albion an idea of the fee they would have to pay if they were to sign the player.

With Pascal Gross and Adam Lallana both in their thirties, it would be a good time for the club to start looking at younger options to bring some more longevity to the midfield.

Normann would also provide good competition for younger midfielders Jakub Moder and Yves Bissouma if he joined.
