Albion could be set for a head-to-head with one of Bruno’s best mates in the game.

Newcastle are keen to bring in Unai Emery from Villarreal as their new boss.

They would love to have him in command for the first time when they take on the Seagulls on Saturday.

It is understood there is a good chance caretaker Graeme Jones will remain in charge at the Amex with Emery observing.

Either way, there appears a strong possibility that Newcastle players will have the extra incentive of impressing a new boss as they take on Graham Potter’s men.

Albion coach Bruno remains good friends with Emery, who signed him both for Almeria and Valencia.

Speaking when Emery was in charge at Arsenal, Bruno told The Argus: “What he wants is work, work, work. Anyone who doesn’t want to be a part of that work ethic will be out.

“There are some players who are finding it tougher because they don’t want to buy into that. He can see that and that is the fundamental for him.

“He is a very brave manager. I can remember one game we played with two players less, against Betis. The first change he made was an attacking one.

FANS' VIEW: DOES GRAHAM POTTER HAVE A BEST XI?

“We were winning 1-0 and he took off a defensive midfielder for an attacking player. The idea was to have more of the ball.

“What I learnt from him was you had to be brave, as he always has been.”
