FORMER Albion star Mark Lawrenson has praised the club's ownership after their good start to the season.

The Seagulls are currently seventh in the Premier League, despite not winning in five games in all competitions.

Albion have started to show that they have adapted to life in the Premier League after toying with relegation since the club's promotion in 2017.

Lawrenson who played for Albion between 1977-1981 making over 150 appearances has been impressed with the club, but feels it is down to work behind the scenes that has helped the club establish itself in the top division.

Lawrenson told the Argus: "There is lies the difference, they have made a really good start, they have got lots of points from the 'lesser clubs'.

"The key for Brighton is to take opportunities as they arrive, I think they are at ease with the Premier League now.

"Potter has done a really good job, but for me it goes back to Tony Bloom because without Tony Bloom, who knows where they would be."

Since 2009, Bloom has been the chairman of the club and has improved the club on and off the pitch, including building the Amex Stadium as well as improving training facilities for the players and club staff.

Lawrenson has also lauded the club's attackers for helping the club climb up the league table.

He said: "I think the forward players have made all the difference for me.

"They are now scoring goals without making to many chances and that can be the difference at this level.

"take the top four teams out and if you have regular goalscorers it is a massive plus because it gets you out of trouble.

"You will always have chances in games, it is rare you don't, and if you have guys who can score it will put you in the right places.

"The Maupays of this world have started to look really comfortable in the league."
