Hope Powell has urged Albion to take a big occasion at the Amex in their stride.

But she believes “anything is possible” in the longer term if they continue to make steady improvement.

The Seagulls’ high-flying FA WSL side enjoy centre stage this weekend with the Premier League taking a break.

They are fourth in the top tier ahead of a visit from bottom side Leicester City tomorrow (2pm).

A crowd in excess of 3,000 is expected.

Appearances at the Amex are a rare treat for Powell’s side but they beat West Ham 2-0 there at the start of the season.

Although they cannot train at the stadium before the game, Powell believes that previous outing will help them this time.

She told The Argus: “We prepare in the same way, we train on the same day, we recover in the same way.

“We just prepare perhaps differently based on the opposition we are playing.

“I think that is really important, not to hype it up too much so it becomes a bit daunting.

“Really it is just another game for us.

“We have experienced the Amex before so those players will be used to it, which is a good thing.

“I think the last game we played there, some of the players were perhaps a little bit nervous.

“For us it is about getting another three points on the board and not making the occasion come before the football, basically.”

Powell has warned there is a long road ahead before Albion can consistently rival the very best in the WSL.

But the club have big long-term ambitions for their women’s team.

Powell said: “We have been at a low point last season.

“We have been at a low point the season before.

“So we are enjoying the run that we are on.

“The ambition is to keep improving, keep being better than we were last year.

“If we do that, we pick up more points, get higher up the table.

“If you get higher up the table, anything is possible.”
