Worthing boss Adam Hinshelwood will pit his wits against a former Albion academy coaching colleague in the FA Trophy.

The Mackerel Men were today drawn at home to Dorking Wanderers in the second round proper.

Wanderers, who play in Vanarama National League south, recently appointed Mark Beard as their head of coaching.

Beard was in charge of Albion's youth team before taking a role at Stockport County.

He was assistant coach of the Seagulls' under-18s at a time when Hinshelwood occupied a similar role with the under-16s.

The tie takes place on the last weekend of this month.

Hinshelwood fancies a decent run in the FA Trophy.

He says it would not distract Worthing from their prime aim of winning the Isthmian League.

The Mackerel Men are currently five points clear at the top of the table ahead of a trip to Hornchurch tomorrow.

Hinshelwood said: “One criticism over the last few years has been we have been disappointing in the cups.

“As a team and as a squad we feel we want to put that right.

“It gives something for the fans to look forward to.

“We were disappointed in the FA Cup but the Trophy gives us a chance to do a bit more.”

ISTHMIAN LEAGUE: LEWES AND HORSHAM TURN ON THE STYLE

Hinshelwood expects to have Marvin Armstrong and Darren Barker back from injury by the time Worthing host Cheshunt on Saturday.

Eastbourne Borough enter the Trophy at this stage and will host Tiverton.

Bognor were not in today’s draw.

They lost on penalties at Truro yesterday after a fierce finish from Jordy Mongoy forced a 1-1 draw.
