GRAHAM Potter's Albion have been linked with a move to sign Union SG striker Dante Vanzeir.

The Belgian forward has been in top form in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League this season, scoring ten goals and providing six assists in only fifteen appearances for Les Unionistes.

The 23-year-old is one of the main reasons Union SG are leading their league and his form has started to attract interest from clubs, including Albion according to Belgian news outlet Jeunesfooteaux.com.

The Seagulls are being suggested to be interested in making a move for the striker in the January transfer window.

Potter will be in the market for a new striker as Neal Maupay's early season form has dropped off leading to the Frenchman being benched and Leandro Trossard leading the line in a false nine.

Other options such as Danny Welbeck and Aaron Connolly have not been able to provide consistent support to the striker position either due to being injured or a lack of form.

Welbeck is currently sidelined after having surgery on a hamstring injury and is not expected back for selection until Christmas.

Vanzeir is a similar build to Trossard, being only three centimetres taller than the current Albion forward, he also came through the KRC Genk youth academy.

The one-time capped Belgian forward is contracted to Les Unionistes until 2024, which can be extended by a further year, and the club will not be in a rush to sell their prized asset.

The Seagulls will also face competition to sign the striker from Premier League rival Thomas Frank's Brentford side.

Serie A side Atlanta have also been linked with taking Vanzeir to Italy.

One advantage Albion will have in their reported pursuit of the striker is that Union SG are owned by Tony Bloom, which could see negotiations become a bit easier.

However, the forward is not concerned about the transfer rumours.

The 23-year-old told Belgian newspaper De Zondag: "I am not concerned with that at all and my agent knows that he should leave me alone.

"My focus is on Union SG. I want to make this a fantastic and unforgettable season and then we'll see which doors might open.

"I think everyone in the team feels that way."

With Union SG leading the title charge in Belgium it would be difficult to prise the striker away.
