Young Irish international Andy Moran earned a point for Albion under-23s - in the absence of a much talked about compatriot.

Moran, who has played age group football for the Republic, scored in the first half of a 1-1 draw at Chelsea in Premier League 2.

He netted at the second attempt after the hosts had lost possession in their own box.

Chelsea levelled early in the second half.

Holland under-21 international Kjell Scherpen, who was on the bench at Aston Villa for the seniors last week, had 90 minutes in goal.

Evan Ferguson was not involved for the Seagulls, despite his stunning goal at Everton earlier in the week.

That inevitably sparked questions as to whether the Republic of Ireland under-21 international, who is only 17, could be involved with the first team today.

Graham Potter’ 20-man matchday squad to face Leeds will be announced at 4.30pm.

Moran himself is an exciting talent having an excellent season and this was his third goal of the campaign for his club.
