UNION SG striker Dante Vanzeir has been touted as "perfect" for Albion after they were linked to the player last week.

Graham Potter's side could be in the hunt for a new striker following struggles in front of goal over the last couple of seasons.

The 0-0 draw against Leeds on Saturday was a perfect example of this as Albion dominated the game and deserved to win the match, but were unable to put the ball in the goal.

Striker Neal Maupay missed two great chances from inside the six-yard box, whereas Leandro Trossard, Jakub Moder and Solly March all went close as well.

A new striker could be the answer to the team's problems in front of goal, if a new clinical forward was signed, then Albion could start converting draws into wins.

The club were linked with a move with Tony Bloom's Belgian club Union SG's forward Dante Vanzeir last week.

The 23-year-old has had a great start to the season scoring ten goals and providing six assists in only 16 Jupiler Pro League appearances this season.

When asked if Albion could sign Vanzeir, Belgian football journalist Sven Claes told the Argus: "Of course. I'm gonna say more - the likes of Dante are exactly the players Brighton should be scouting before their values become astronomical.

"He is ready for the next step and would be perfect for Potter's 3-5-2.

"He brings pace, mobility and goals. He's a superb second striker who can also play on the wing.

"I compared him to Marco Reus 5 years ago, some people were comparing him to Eden Hazard after the World Cup U-17."

Vanzeir plays for Union SG, a club that Albion owner Tony Bloom is the chairman, which could help the Seagulls with negotiations for the player.

When asked if this could help Albion's reported pursuit of the player, Claes said" "I live in Belgium, and that's what people say here, so probably yes.

"A transfer would probably about €5 to €7 million, but only because he's at Union. He's worth much more. For an Anderlecht player of the same quality, it would be €10 million more."

If Albion does want the player, they will have to ward off interest from Premier League rivals Brentford and Serie A side Atalanta.
