Graham Potter says he has had messages of support from Albion fans.

He recognises accepts only a minority booed immediately after the 0-0 draw with Leeds.

The Seagulls head coach was happy he made his own feelings known via the media.

And he added: “There is a lot to be excited and happy about at this club.”

The subject of booing came up early in his press conference looking ahead to Wednesday’s trip to West Ham.

Potter said: “It wasn’t all of our supporters. It was a few of them.

“As disappointing as it is, you have to accept that because that’s the world we are in.

“People are entitled to their opinion.

“It’s also important to communicate with supporters, to speak to them because they are the most important people at the club.

“If you think they can help a bit more, then communicate with them.

“Just because they are important, it doesn’t mean to say they don’t need a little bit of help as well.

“When you look at the team we had, a lot of the young players, the performance of the team on the night, you look at where we sit in the Premier League at the moment, if we want to achieve our goals, we have to be a bit better than we were, collectively.”

He added: “Football is an emotional game.

“Sometimes when it is emotional you don’t think as clearly as you would do out of that situation.

“I am sure there are people who maybe had that reaction and are maybe thinking now, ‘Okay, that was maybe a bit over the top’.

“There will be times when the team will be booed and deservedly booed.

“I just thought on that day, after that performance, it wasn’t the best.

“But it wasn’t the majority, it was a minority.

“I have had loads of messages from supporters being really positive, really appreciative, really supportive.

“It’s important to listen to each other.

“I think the good thing about this football club is we engage with our supporters. We speak.

“We try and be together, we want to try and improve.

“I think that is a really healthy part of our journey to get to where we want to get to.”
