NEW Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has played down rumours of a winter move for Albion defender Tariq Lamptey.

The Red Devils had been linked with a move for the 21-year-old by Spanish media outlet Fichajes.

The report suggested that the German manager could have been interested in the Albion star as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diego Dalot.

However, Rangnick has now played down transfer rumours linking players with a move to Old Trafford.

When asked about bringing players into the club, Rangnick told the media: "Now is the time to get to know the current squad.

"There is enough players."

The manager has also suggested that he is not keen on signing players during the winter transfer window.

He said: "Maybe after Christmas, there will be a time to talk about possible transfers in the winter.

"In my experience, it is not the time for sustainable transfers."

It comes as no surprise that Lamptey is being linked with moves as he has continued to impress since returning from injury.

He was instrumental in Albion's well-earned point against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday, he was the one that cross the ball for Neal Maupay's spectacular equaliser.
