ALBION are back in action in the Sussex Senior Cup tonight as they face Isthmian League South-East Division side Chichester City.

Andrew Crofts' side are into the third round after thrashing Haywards Heath Town 6-0 in the last round, most recently they earned a 3-0 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League 2 on Friday.

Two goals from Lorent Tolaj and Ben Wilson’s strike was enough to earn the team an impressive victory against the Reds.

Crofts said: “I thought it was an excellent performance from the group against Liverpool.

“From the first whistle to the end, we were really solid in terms of controlling large periods, creating opportunities and resilience.

“To win again and go up until Christmas unbeaten at home, with some of the momentum we’ve built and the runs we’ve been on has been great.”

Tolaj was the man of the match against the Reds with his brace, but the likes of Cam Peupion also impressed on Friday, and Crofts was full of praise for the attacking duo.

“So many individuals have grown from pre-season up until now,” said the head coach. “It’s such a pleasing part of the job. The staff work so hard to see individuals and the team grow.

“Lorent scored two and put in a real team performance in terms of his work-rate, and Cam was a big threat going forward but put in such a shift defensively too.

“What’s exciting is there is loads more to come from them and the whole group. It was a top, top performance and we want to keep that going.”

To achieve this Albion will have to beat Chichester City, kick-off 7.45pm, who have not been beaten in their last seven home games and are ninth in the Isthmian League South-East Division.

Crofts said: “It will be another tough test. Against Haywards Heath the attitude and approach was spot on and that will be needed again.

“We try to maintain high standards as consistently as we can and that will be no different for the group against Chichester.

“They will be playing against a team with more nous and experience than they’re used to, and they are good players. It will definitely be a challenge but another one we are really looking forward to.”
