FORMER Albion star Gary Chivers has admitted he would have "loved" to have played for current manager Graham Potter.

The 61-year-old represented the club between the years 1988 and 1993 making 217 league appearances and even scoring 14 goals as a defender.

Chivers is pleased with the job that Potter has done at the club and has praised the way he conducts himself on the touchline during games.

He told Albion's website: “I think Graham is brilliant and he has done a fantastic job here.

"The players like him, he’s a good man. He never seems to get irate on the sidelines either, that rubs off onto the players.

The defender admitted that Potter's management style appeals to him and that he would have enjoyed being a player under him.

“I would have loved playing for him.

"Sometimes you don’t want people screaming and throwing cups around like they used to in my day.

"He just comes in and tells the players how it is.

"He’s as straight as a die which I like, there’s nothing around him that you’re not going to believe and he has got a good footballing brain.”

Potter has revolutionised Albion's style of football since he replaced Chris Hughton in 2019.

Hughton had established Albion's place in the Premier League and made them defensively strong, but Potter has introduced an attacking style to club.

Despite there sometimes is a lack of goals under Potter despite plenty of chances being created, the club has usually deserved more from their performances than they have been given.

Potter has managed 105 Albion matches winning 30, drawing 36 and losing the other 39 games.
