Graham Potter says he is happy with Albion’s line-up of strikers as it stands.

Jurgen Locadia has signed for Bochum on a permanent deal while Aaron Connolly is now on loan at Middlesbrough.

Neither were really playing a part in the Premier League.

That leaves Neal Maupay and Danny Welbeck as senior strikers, backed up by teenager Evan Ferguson.

Leandro Trossard has also led the attack and Albion have several attacking midfield players.

Ferguson could enjoy some game time in the FA Cup tie at West Brom tomorrow.

But top scorer Maupay would appear a prime candidate to rest.

Asked whether he would now look to sign a striker, Potter said: “Not necessarily. Danny Welbeck coming back is really important for us.

“Evan Ferguson has stepped up from the 23s and has been training with us pretty much all the time for the last few weeks so he plays a bit of a role in the first team group.

“There is always an opportunity when the window is open, you never know.

“But as it stands I’m happy with what we have got.”

Cadiz have been pushing for Albion take back out-of-favour Florin Andone early but Potter said: “The situation is he’s on loan for the season. Nothing further to add.”

Locadia’s move ends a four-year association with Albion which failed to match the expectation which surrounded his £15 million arrival from PSV.

The former Hoffenheim frontman said of his Bochum move: “I’m curious about the team and am looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga again.

“Having had little playing time recently, I naturally hope that this will change at VfL.”

Both Potter and his Birmingham City counterpart Lee Bowyer were guarded over reports Taylor Richards will go to St Andrew’s on loan.

Haydon Roberts could make a similar switch to Sheffield Wednesday.

Potter said: “Nothing to report or confirm. We’re looking at things, but nothing to add.”
