CRYSTAL Palace have reportedly jumped ahead of Albion in the running for Arsenal striker Eddie NKetiah.

In the build-up to the transfer window Albion were heavily linked with a move for the Gunners striker as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season and therefore could be an affordable option.

Nketiah however has gathered interest from rivals Crystal Palace who are hoping to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta once he leaves the south London side.

The 22-year-old has rejected multiple contract offers at Arsenal and looks set to leave the club either in the current window or at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The ex England U21 forward has scored five goals in seven appearances in all competitions this season.

Arsenal would likely prefer a sale this month so they do not miss out on a transfer fee in the summer.

Albion could be interested in the striker as he would provide another option upfront for Graham Potter.

The Seagulls currently are down to two traditional strikers at the club with Neal Maupay and Danny Welbeck after the sale of Jurgen Locadia to VfL Bochum and loan of Aaron Connolly to Middlesbrough.

Potter does have youngster Evan Ferguson training with the first-team but a run in the Premier League might be too soon for the 17-year-old.

Nketiah has also attracted interest from West Ham United and Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. The German club are said to be starting talks with the player over a pre-contract deal that would see him join them in the summer.
