Christian Walton has admitted it was a tough decision to leave Albion.
But he is keen to get on with life at Ipswich Town after completing a permanent deal.
Walton has impressed on loan at Portman Road so far this term.
He was for a long time seen as the No.1 in waiting at Albion, having made his debut more than seven years ago.
Walton, 26, told itfc.co.uk: "It’s not an easy decision. I've had to leave a place where I’ve been eight years and not played the games I wanted.
"It’s a tough decision I’ve got to make with my life and my football career."
Walton has spent much of his career out on loan.
He said: "Everyone need stability at some point in their life.
"My football career has been really good to date.
"I’ve really enjoyed my loan experiences and my time at Brighton and obviously it comes to an end and all good things do."
