Christian Walton has been hailed as an “amazing” goalkeeper as he cuts ties with Albion.

The 26-year-old signed a permanent deal until June 2024 at Ipswich, where he has been on loan so far this term.

Former Albion keeper John Keeley was Walton’s coach at Portman Road for the first half of the season.

Keeley, who is now set to launch a goalkeeping school back home in Worthing said: “He has been amazing.

“He is a top-six Championship goalkeeper.

“He is very professional, trains well and thinks about things he is doing.

“Ben (Roberts) has done a brilliant job with him at Brighton.”

Walton made his Albion debut in a League Cup tie at Tottenham more than seven years ago.

But that was one of just six first-team appearances for the club as he spent most of his time out on loan.

He said: “Everyone needs stability at some point in their life.

“My football career has been really good to date.

“I’ve really enjoyed my loan experiences and my time at Brighton but obviously it comes to an end, as all good things do.”
