TOTTENHAM have been priced out of a deal to sign Albion star Tariq Lamptey.

The young defender has been making waves this season with his impressive performances for Graham Potter's side.

Lamptey's pace and quick feet have helped him become one of the most sort after players in the Premier League with transfer rumours suggesting that both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the player.

However Albion will want to keep hold of their prized asset for at least the remainder of the current season as they look to secure a spot in the top half of the Premier League for the first time since their promotion to the division.

Spurs have been the most heavily linked with a move for Lamptey as they continue to look for a replacement for Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty.

Antonio Conte's side do have Emerson Royal on loan from Barcelona among their ranks, but the 21-year-old would certainly be able to challenge for a starting berth.

A move does look unlikely according to The Times sports reporter Gary Jacob.

He has suggested that the London side have "concluded that Tariq Lamptey would be too expensive" as Albion would likely ask for a fee in the region of £50 million, similar to the sale of Ben White to Arsenal last summer.
