Albion can equal a long-standing club record at Old Trafford – and there would be no more fitting venue.

Graham Potter’s side have gone seven unbeaten in the Premier League since Christmas.

That leaves them one short of their longest ever sequence without defeat in the top tier.

Mike Bailey’s side were unbeaten in eight First Division fixtures during the 1981-82 season.

The run ended at Old Trafford when they lost 2-0 to the leaders.

Goals from Garry Birtles and Frank Stapleton gave Manchester United a 2-0 win to keep them top, just ahead of pursuers Swansea City and Ipswich Town.

Albion have won three and drawn four of their last seven.

That compares well with the best-ever run of 40 years ago, in which they won two and drew six.

Albion opened that run with a 4-1 win at home to Manchester City, followed by draws at West Brom (0-0) and at home to eventual champions Liverpool (3-3).

Then came a 1-0 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane with Michael Robinson on target.

Draws followed versus Stoke, Birmingham and Notts County before a 0-0 stalemate with Swansea at the Vetch Field.

Graham Moseley was outstanding in goal as the Seagulls went down at Old Trafford.

They responded well by winning their next two games en route to what is the club’s best-ever finish of 13th place – for now at least.
